busy, busy

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Very busy at the moment which is great. The game at Wembley wasn’t very good but the trip was good fun.
Babysitting of Harry is going well, and he is really happy now and smiles a lot of the time, I’m trying to get him to wave but I guess that’s pretty ambitious as he isn’t four months old yet!
When you are searching on the internet don’t forget that enclosing words in brackets will narrow the search to pages that contain all those words e.g. (Norwich football club) will only show sites including all those words and will exclude all the other pages about Norwich. This can save you trawling through thousands of pages.

Marvellous time of the year

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Unless you have huge trees in your garden this is a wonderful time of the year with colourful leaves, and bright crisp days. Some of you have a never ending job of clearing leaves so you might not be so impressed!
Another busy weekend to come with the Swindon game followed by a trip to Wembley with my sons to see the American football game. We have been following NFL for years and it’s a great trip with a crowd of 85,000+ supporters.
Watched a program yesterday about baby models, all seemed a bit intense and I doubt if Harry’s parents will put him forward as a model, although he is of course the best looking baby ever.

I mentioned last time about backup, another point to remember is the recovery discs for your p.c. some modern computers come with them (notably Dell), but otherwise you have to produce them. There should be a program to do this on your machine. Please do it, as it is much more difficult (and therefore more expensive) to recover your computer if it completely crashes.

Happy Thursday

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Another busy week, with a lot of my time spent fixing laptops. One of the main problems with laptops is the puny little fan that they put on them, which struggles to cope with the heat from the processor etc. Worth checking the fan is clear when you use it.
We are still taking Harry to the swimming pool each weekend, and although he doesn’t smile much when he is there, he doesn’t cry either so we think he is ok with it!
Having spent so much time reformatting p.c’s lately, I would like to encourage all my clients to back up regularly, imagine if your computer failed tomorrow and you lost everything on it, would you be unhappy?
If you are not sure how to backup, give me a call.

What a week!

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

Well then what about Norwich, now the highest scoring club at home in all the leagues! Brilliant games both Tuesday and yesterday.
We are off to the local swimming pool today in Costessey with Harry and all the family, should be great fun.

Been fixing a friends pc over the last few days trying to get World of Warcraft working for him. Took several goes and ended up accessing the windows registry. If you are ever asked to change the Windows registry be very careful as it can stop your pc starting up.

Finally don’t forget if you have Vista you can change icon sizes on the desktop by holding down CTRL and rotating the mouse wheel.
